The UCSB Rec Cen can issue passports?
Well, not exactly, the Rec Cen Customer Service Center is an authorized US Government Passport Acceptance Facility. You can avoid the hassles and long lines at the Post Office by making an appointment with us! We offer all the necessary forms, expedited service, and a friendly staff.
However, please note that our services are available BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

What do we do?
We provide forms, accept your completed passport application and forward it to the U.S. Department of State for an issuance determination. Only the Department of State Processing Agency can make an issuance determination. We cannot.

Who/what is Passport Services?
Passport Services is part of the U.S. Department of State. The Department is responsible for making the final decision to issue or deny a U.S. passport - based on each individual application. Customers may be requested to provide additional information as determined by Department of State Processing Agency.

When is the UCSB Passport Acceptance Office open?
At this time we are accepting passport applications by appointment only. Please call (805) 893-3552 to schedule an appointment.

How long are passports taking to process?
Routine passport applications are taking 8 weeks. (as of 3/15/17)
Expedite passports are taking 3 weeks.

How do customers check the status of applications?

Customers may check the status of their pending passport applications by calling the National Passport Information Center at (877) 487-2778. They can also track their application status one week after submission. Check http://travel.state.gov/ for details.

DIRECTIONS TO THE PASSPORT OFFICE IN THE RECREATION CENTER

Heading South on 101: Exit on Los Carneros Road. Turn right on Los Carneros Road and proceed two miles to Mesa Road. Turn left on Mesa Road and proceed past the Campus Police Department to Ocean Road. Turn right on Ocean Road and the Recreation Center will be on your right. Parking lot 16/ Mesa Structure 18/ is across the street on your left. 

Heading North on the 101:
Exit on Highway 217 (Airport/ UCSB)  and go 4.4 mi. to the campus entrance. Head right at the Henly Gate roundabout and continue on Mesa Road to Ocean Road. Turn left on Ocean Road and the Recreation Center will be on your right. Parking lot 16/ Mesa Structure 18 is across the street on your left.

Parking: Parking Lot 16 and Parking Structure 18 are located directly across the street from the Recreation Center. For information on parking rates please visit http://www.tps.ucsb.edu/.

Our Office is located in the Rec Cen Customer Service Center. Just before entering the Rec Cen main entrance, turn right and walk just past the bathroom. Our entrance will be on your left.
