UCSB Men’s Club Baseball Team was founded in 2007 by Corey Uhalde and Tim Monreal. As a member of the National Club Baseball Association, the team has grown to become a national power. In 2011, the team won the Southern Pacific Conference regional title and finished third in the nation after a trip to the NCBA World Series in Columbus, Georgia. In 2016, the Gauchos finished 17-5, 9-2 in conference. 2016 was our most successful season since 2011, making it to an “All or Nothing,” “Win or Go Home,” sudden death against Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, falling one win short of a trip to the Southern Pacific (SO-PAC) Conference Regionals. This upcoming 2016-2017 season, we have even higher aspirations with 18 returning players from last year. We are looking for competitive baseball players who take the game seriously and are committed to helping the Gauchos advance to Regionals for the first time in six years.

We play 3 game series (23 innings) on Saturdays and Sundays, playing one 9 inning game and two 7 inning games on Saturday and Sunday. You can get there by going up El Colegio Road towards FT (Santa Catalina), then making a right on Storke Road, and a left on Phelps Road until you hit the baseball field. We play games year round with our Regular Season taking place in February, March and April. Regionals and the NCBA World Series take place in May. Every March, we road trip to Mesquite, Nevada for the annual Swing into Spring Wood Bat tournament.

Tryouts for the club baseball team are open to all UCSB students and take place every fall quarter during the month of October. However, we are always looking for good ball players, so it is never too late to tryout, as our roster is open until the end of March. For those of you who missed tryouts, we encourage you to contact us or come out to one of our practices. If interested, send an email to ucsbclubbaseball@gmail.com. Thank you for your interest in club baseball and we hope to see you out on the diamond!
