2015 Western Conference Collegiate Team Omnium Road Champions

The UCSB Cycling team is a group of graduate and undergraduate men and women who enjoy riding bikes, competitively, recreationally, or both! We are members of the Western Collegiate Conference (a division of USA Cycling) that allows us to compete with students from other schools throughout California, Nevada, and even Hawaii! Our main focus is on road and mountain biking, but our members have also been known to dabble in track, cyclocross, and BMX. We enjoy all things bicycle - if you are hesitant to join, please know that the only requirements to join are a helmet and an interest in cycling! There are no tryouts, and we do not require our members to compete. Our club is a great place to meet people who enjoy the outdoors, and want to explore it more on two wheels.

Join the Team

The best way to join the club is to get in touch with one of the officers by e-mail or join the google group and come to one of the posted rides. You can also attend one of our weekly team meetings, which are usually held on Thursdays at 8:00pm in HSSB 1174 (double check the google group first). You may join the club at any point during the year, but we recommend joining earlier as that is when the club meetings and rides are more focused on newcomers.

Recreational riders can join the club for free; by attending team meetings and checking the google group, they can meet other members with similar interests.

To gain access to sponsor discounts, training plans, and have all race entry fees and travel reimbursed, students can join the team in any of the following ways:

Club membership costs $100 and entitles you to certain benefits such as discounts at Fastrack, our local bike shop. Mountain Team membership costs an additional $100 ($200 total), Road Team membership costs an additional $200 ($300 total), and membership to both the mountain and road teams costs $400 total. Joining either the road or mountain team entitles you to major discounts on bikes, equipment, apparel, and more! Team membership also covers all* expenses for race weekends: Transportation, race entry fees, and lodging. If you are not sure whether you would like to race, join the club first—the $100 you paid in club dues will be subtracted from your team dues. *Race-team membership does not cover food, but many of the places we stay at provide continental breakfast.
