The gauntlet is set up like a puzzle. At each waypoint, participants will be gathering clues that hint to where their next puzzle piece will be. The end goal is to successfully return to the start and assemble the accumulated pieces. The race will take place throughout Isla Vista, Goleta, the waters of our surrounding beaches and various places around the UCSB campus. Competitors can choose to do the event solo or with a partner.

“Hopefully I get to see everyone having a blast,” Adventure Climbing Center Acting Manager and Co- Race Director Mason Bouchet said.

“Everyone the participated last year had tons of fun and I hope to see them back for a second crack at the course to improve on their efforts from last year.”

No experience is necessary for the gauntlet, but some knowledge and navigational skills of the UCSB campus and surrounding area will be beneficial for the race. The event includes heavy outdoor activities and will be the perfect opportunity for participants to discover new athletic interests.

“It’s an amazing event for people who have no experience as well as for people who like the race kind of deal,” Adventure Programs Student Marketing Coordinator Gabrielle Attisani said. “This is to help people get into [sports], have a good time. It’s not something you have to stress about.”
