UCSB Adventure Programs is proud to host the second UCSB GauchoQuest, a free week-long adventure competition designed to encourage students, alumni, staff, faculty and our community to enjoy the outdoors!

Participants competing individually or in teams will receive a list of 100+ challenges to complete over the course of the competition, including Adventure Programs’ very own ropes course, climbing tower, and Campus Point Rentals! Points will be assigned based on pictures taken during the challenge or challenge completion, and the team with the most points at the end of the weekend will win the grand prize!

Check-in will take place on Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23 from 5-8 pm in front of the UCSB Rec Cen. The race will begin Sunday, September 23 at 8 pm and conclude Sunday, September 30 at 8 pm. All prize winners will be announced by Saturday, October 6.

ALL individuals on your team must register beforehand at the link below.

Once registered complete the following:
1. Download the GooseChase iOS or Android app.
2. Register for a personal account with a username & password of your choice.
3. Search for and select the "GauchoQuest 2018" game.
4. Follow the prompts to select or create your team. If the team has an access code, enter it here.

Before joining the team, you will need to be individually registered. More details will be sent via email the week before the event.

The Rules

  • At check-in, teams will receive a new and unique Adventure Programs sticker that must be visible in every picture in order for the picture to count for points.
  • Individuals must sign up for their team both through the Goosechase app and online through the Recreation website.
  • During the following “black out” times, only select challenges may be submitted
    • during Convocation only the Convocation challenge may be submitted
    • during the first two days of class - September 27 and 28, the only allowable challenges will be consistent with academic activities.
  • Video submissions have a maximum of 15 seconds. For challenges that require a longer video, make them into a timelapse.
  • Final and most important, have FUN and remember to be safe and considerate of community members and any environmental impact!
