UCSB Adventure Programs is proud to host the inaugural UCSB GauchoQuest, a free 48-hour adventure competition designed to encourage students, alumni, staff, faculty and our community to enjoy the outdoors!

Participants competing individually or in teams of up to 5 people will receive a list of 100+ challenges to complete over the course of the competition, including Adventure Programs’ very own ropes course, climbing tower, and Harder Stadium rappel! Points will be assigned based on pictures taken during the challenge or challenge completion, and the team with the most points at the end of the weekend will win the grand prize!

Check-in will take place on Friday, April 27 from 5-8 pm in front of the UCSB Rec Cen. The race will begin when a team checks in Friday and conclude Sunday, April 29 at 8 pm. All prize winners will be announced by Saturday, May 5.

ALL individuals on your team must register beforehand at the following link. Team registration will take place at check-in; however, in order to be on a team, you need to be individually registered. More details will be sent via email the week before the event.

The Rules

  • At check-in, teams will receive a new and unique Adventure Programs sticker that must be visible in every picture in order for the picture to count for points.
  • All pictures MUST be taken between check-in on Friday and 8 pm on Sunday. Anything taken before or after these times will not be accepted. Each challenge may only be completed ONCE.
  • At some point during the competition, at least one member of each team must post on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #outdoornation AND tag @ucsbadventure for Instagram or UCSB Adventure Programs on Facebook. This is REQUIRED to be eligible for any prizes or giveaways.
  • Final and most important, have FUN and remember to be safe and considerate of community members and any environmental impact!
